Baby Update

Well, I debated on whether or not to post anything, since this is our travel blog, but I figured, we need all the prayers and happy thoughts we can get, so might as well.

As many of you know (and for those who don't, although, I'm pretty sure by this time, everyone and their brother knows), Christopher and I have been trying to get pregnant for 3 years now. We've been through countless tests, probably close to thousands of pregnancy tests (I have a slight addiction...lol), a lot of heartache and tears, one miscarriage, and no answers. Well, a couple of weeks ago, we got some answers. Due to all the results of all the tests we've had done, the doctor said if he had to put a number on it, he'd give us a 5% chance to get pregnant on our own. He also said our only option is IVF (In vitro-fertilization).

IVF is the process where they harvest eggs and fertilize them outside the womb and then put them back in to hopefully establish a pregnancy. If anyone is familiar with John and Kate Gosselin (of John and Kate Plus 8) and that crazy Octo-Mom, that's the procedure they both had done.

The really awesome thing about all this (yes there is some positivity to this), is that we live about 25 minutes away from Cambridge, and the Bourn Hall Clinic (www.bourn-hall-clinic.co.uk) is the pioneering clinic for the IVF process. They were the ones who successfully produced the first "test tube baby" in 1978! So, that's where we'll be going to get our treatment, so we'll be in fabulous hands! Their website is really informative and helpful, so if you're curious, check it out.

A quote that is on Bourn Hall's website I really liked and is going to be my new mantra is...
"The odd's may be against you, but the results can be miraculous"

And seriously, wouldn't we make the cutest babies ever?

  1. You've got an immense amount of love and support from us! I know all the "you can keep trying" setiments become annoying--trust me--so I'll just say that I'm willing to babysit one (or 4) whenever you need it. I know, insane right? Strangely enough kids love me! Lol. Loves yous guys.
